PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery capable of attaining high capacity while maintaining excellent cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: A positive electrode of a lithium secondary battery according to the present invention includes a positive electrode collector consisting of conductive substance and a positive electrode active material layer consisting of a lithium composite oxide sintered plate. The positive electrode active material layer and the positive electrode collector are joined via a conductive joint layer. The features of the present invention are that the positive electrode active material layer has a thickness of 30 μm or more, that its porosity is 3-30%, and that its open pore ratio is 70% or more.
