<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcurrent protection circuit and overcurrent protection method that can reliably and easily suppress an overcurrent flowing through a switching element over a wide load current range. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention comprises: a determination unit 170 that determines whether or not a switch current is under overcurrent state in excess of a predetermined threshold when the switching element 100 turns on; an off-period setting counter 180 that increases and decreases counter output S[2:0] according to a determination result of the determination unit 170; and a driving signal generator 200 that generates a driving signal GATE of the switching element 100 so that a timing interval Tg for turning on the switching element 100 becomes a length corresponding to the counter output S[2:0] of the off-period setting counter 180. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
