<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual image display device capable of preventing luminance unevenness and image unevenness of image light relatively easily. <P>SOLUTION: In a virtual image display device, a large number of illuminating light reflecting faces 15c of an image light forming device 10 change reflection efficiency depending on the position of the reference direction (similarly Z direction) of a backlight guiding plate 15b which is a direction corresponding to a repetitive arrangement direction (Z direction) of a large number of image light reflecting faces of an image light guide plate.
