<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a rare earth metal nitride suitable for producing a phosphor with relatively simple equipment without using ammonia. <P>SOLUTION: A rare earth metal is baked at a temperature of the melting point of the metal or above and the melting point of the nitride of the metal or below in a mixed atmosphere of nitrogen and hydrogen. A rare earth metal nitride phosphor emitting light having sufficient emission intensity in a long wavelength region of yellowish green to orange color, and having the emission peak with an extremely wide half width in an emission spectrum can be obtained by using the rare earth metal nitride as a raw material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
