DRIVING SUPPORT DEVICE AND DRIVING SUPPORT METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device and a driving support method which can assess driving skill of a driver and support driving in accordance with the driving skill of the driver with a simple configuration.

SOLUTION: A driving support device 10 according to an embodiment of the invention is provided in a vehicle and comprises: a camera 11 for taking an image of the driver and surroundings of the vehicle; a driver information obtaining section 22 for obtaining sight line moving information of the driver from the taken image information of the driver; a situation identifying section 23 for obtaining surrounding image information of the vehicle to identify a driving situation of the vehicle from the surrounding image information; and a driving skill determining section 24 for determining the driving skill of the driver in the driving situation of the vehicle from the sight line moving information and the driving situation information of the vehicle.
