The method involves determining a temperature (T-cooling) of a cooling agent. The air ratio is reduced, if the cooling agent temperature exceeds a given upper limit temperature. The air ratio is reduced by a stoichiometric operation of an internal-combustion engine (1). An independent claim is also included for a liquid-cooled internal-combustion engine with a cylinder head.
