<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight in which edge part emission spots in a light guide plate are reduced and luminous uniformity is enhanced and which is suitable for a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight device of a side edge type is provided with a light guide plate having an incident face, an emission face almost perpendicular to the incident face, and a reflection face facing the emission face and an LED light source unit having a plurality of LED light sources arrayed in an almost linear shape in a length direction of the incident face of the light guide plate. Between the incident face of the light guide plate and the LED light source unit, there is arranged a light diffusion film having diffusivity (A) in a main diffusion direction 40-95 degrees, and/or diffusivity (B) in the main diffusion direction 150-180 degrees. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
