<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technique, an external preparation for skin, which has the moisture-retaining effect and the like of an amino acid and does not cause smell change and discoloration. <P>SOLUTION: The external preparation for skin is characterized by including (A) a D-amino acid and/or hydrochloride thereof, and (B) a chelating agent. There is provided the new technique wherein the D-amino acid is added to the external preparation for the skin to prevent the temporal or photo smell change/discoloration.
