PURPOSE: A gap measuring apparatus and method for a worm shaft bearing are provided to measure a gap between the inner and outer races of a bearing caused by an abrasion or machining tolerance. CONSTITUTION: A gap measuring apparatus for a worm shaft bearing comprises a bearing housing(200), a snap ring(300), a spring(400), a measurement block(500), an upper block(600), a lower block(700), and a micro meter part(800). The bearing housing has a cylindrical hollow in which a worm shaft(100) is inserted in a longitudinal direction and a stepped portion in which one side of a first bearing(130) is placed. The snap ring is fixed to the interior of the bearing housing to fix the outer race of the first bearing. The spring is inserted into the bearing housing and supports one side of the worm shaft in which a second bearing(140) is installed. The measurement block is coupled to one side of the worm shaft in which the first bearing is installed to make one side of the worm shaft flat. The upper block has a hollow to receive the measurement block, and the upper block is coupled and fixed to one side of the bearing housing. The lower block is coupled and fixed to the other side of the bearing housing. The micro meter part is inserted in the upper block and contacts one side of the measurement block.
