PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet having a unit optical shape capable of reducing color shading, and to provide a surface light source device and display device.

SOLUTION: An optical sheet 16 has a surface 16a on which a plurality of convex unit optical shapes 16d are arranged. A light source 13 is disposed on a back face 16b side which is the opposite side of the surface 16a side. The optical sheet 16 is so disposed that the light of the light source 13 enters from the back face 16b and is emitted from the surface 16a. The following relation is satisfied: a mean value (nm) of the in-plane phase difference/(variation of in-plane phase difference (nm)×a mean value of the sheet thickness (mm))≥10 (1/mm).
