PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azo pigment-producing method, a pigment dispersion, a colored composition and a colored composition for a color filter, wherein high voltage holding ratio of a liquid crystal display device and high contrast are achieved by using them for a color filter of the liquid crystal display device or the like; to provide the color filter, wherein high contrast and high voltage holding ratio are achieved by using them for the liquid crystal display device or the like; and to provide an inkjet recording ink obtained by using the pigment dispersion and the colored composition, the recording ink being excellent in color characteristics such as colorability and hue and being excellent in endurance such as light resistance and ozone resistance.

SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method of producing the azo pigment having a specified structure, its tautomer, and the salt or hydrate of them, including a step of heating and cleaning the azo pigment with a solvent containing 70-100 mass% of a hydrophilic solvent having SP value of 14 to 34. The color filter or the like is preferably formed by using the azo pigment obtained by the producing method.
