A method of splitting a signal and signal processing circuitry and apparatus utilising the same

A method of despreading a spread spectrum signal containing target pseudorandom noise code sequences. A signal is split by derotating the signal whereby a frequency band of the derotated spread spectrum signal overlaps zero frequency; filtering the signal to remove signal components around zero frequency; splitting the filtered derotated spread spectrum signal into a positive frequency component and negative frequency component part. The method may also comprise generating replica code signals corresponding to the target pseudorandom noise code sequences; and correlating the first and second signal parts with the replica code signals; and returning respective correlation values for determining if the target code has been acquired.
