The apparatus 10 has a mask 46 of compliant material and two open ends. An open end of the mask is disposed for communicating a positive fluid pressure to patient's air passageways. A fluid communication unit communicates positive air pressure to the other open end of the mask. A strap 32 retains the former open end in an area adjacent to patient's pair of nasal passageways during use. A set of apertures 44 serves as an exhalation valve for exhausting gas to the atmosphere. The mask may be inflatable and may seal against the patientâ s face. The material may be a cloth outer portion and a soft plastic inner portion. |
