A stereoscopic microscope has two separate adjustment means in the path of left and right sub-beams to effect respective adjustments in the angular relationship between the beams in their path from an object to a pair of eyepieces 236L, 236R. A beam splitter 222 receives the optical beam 230 from an objective lens 210 and splits it into left and right sub-beams 230L, 230r. The adjustment means may be independently adjustable. The first adjustment means may be occluding means e.g. a moveable straight-edged mask 232L, 232R in each of the left and right optical paths and the second adjustment means may be beam steering means 234L, 234R each comprising first and second reflecting surfaces [246a, 246b, fig 8a]. |
