PURPOSE: A gateway system based on VRRP(Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) and method thereof are provided to prevent unnecessary virtual IP transfer by an automatic failure recovery function in order to maintain the stable service of a gateway. CONSTITUTION: A master router(110) and a backup router(120) change VRRP priority as maximum value in case an advertisement packet having high VRRP priority is not received. Each master router and backup router restore the initial setting value of the VRRP priority. Each router includes an external network interface and an internal network interface. A virtual IP is set up about the external network interface and the internal network interface. |
