A slide bearing 10 for a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine is provided. The slide bearing 10 comprises a pair of half bearings 14, 16 combined with each other to form the slide bearing, and a crush relief 12. The crush relief 12 is formed in each end portion region in a circumferential direction of an inner peripheral surface of each half bearing by reducing a bearing wall thickness over an entire width W in an axial direction of the half bearing. The depth of the crush relief 12, or relief depth RD, which is the reduction amount of the bearing wall thickness of the crush relief 12 is maximum at each end portion in the circumferential direction of the half bearing, and gradually decreases toward a centre in the circumferential direction, and the relief depth RD is maximum in a centre in an axial direction of the half bearing, and gradually decreases toward both end portions in the axial direction (see Figures 2 and 5). |
