PURPOSE: A light emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to arrange a route in order to discharge light emitted from an active layer to a side surface of the light emitting device, thereby improving lateral light emitting efficiency of the light emitting device. CONSTITUTION: A combining layer(150), a conductive layer(170), and a reflecting layer(140) are arranged on a supporting substrate(160). A transparent support layer(200) arranged on the reflecting layer. A channel layer(180) is arranged on the transparent support layer. A light emitting structure(120) including a first conductive semiconductor layer(122), an active layer(124), and a second conductive semiconductor layer(126) is arranged on the channel layer. A first electrode(190) is arranged on at least a part of the first conductive semiconductor layer.
