<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for visually checking the periphery of a vehicle, capable of achieving optimal image quality by improving image quality degradation of an image in a distance from the vehicle while minimizing the image quality degradation of the image in the vicinity of the vehicle including important information. <P>SOLUTION: This device comprises: an imaging means (camera 10) mounted on the vehicle so as to image the periphery of the vehicle; an overhead view conversion processing means (overhead view conversion device 11) for performing an overhead view conversion processing on the image picked up by the imaging means (camera 10) to be an overhead view image; an image quality improving filter (12) for performing a filter processing on the overhead view image on which the overhead view conversion has been performed by the overhead view conversion processing means (overhead view conversion device 11); and a monitor (13) for causing the image quality improving filter (12) to show the image on which the filter processing has been performed.
