[Class 6 (iii).] A tractor-drawn mowing-machine of the type in which the cutting-apparatus 3 is pivoted to the tractor and is held in working position by a pull bar adapted to yield should an obstruction be encountered has the pull bar comprised by a link 6 connected to a lever 9 projecting from the rotatable number 10 of a toothed coupling, the members of which are held against each other by an adjustable spring 17. The fixed member of the coupling 11 is provided with a flange by which it is secured to the tractor and has a recessed portion to take a sleeve 13 projecting from the side of the member 10. The coupling teeth are of ratchet-like formation so that while considerable resistance is exercised to the member 10 turning due to the pull of the link 6, resetting the device is comparatively easy. To throw out the clutch of the engine of the tractor when the member 10 turns rearwardly an extension 21 of the lever 9 is slotted and carries a pin 22 adapted to engage a notch 23 in a link 24 connected to the usual clutch pedal 26. The link can be released, to permit the tractor to be backed, by pulling up a rod 27. |
