<p>A system and a method for producing fibrous raw material for thermal insulation in a thermomechanical process. In the production, cellulose-based chips (1 ) are conveyed from storage (10) to the removal of impurities; the impurities are separated from the chips (20), and the purified chips are conveyed to a first refiner (13); and the chips are refined to form refined pulp in at least the first refiner. The dry matter content of the refined pulp downstream of the first refiner is preferably at least 60%. In an example, the finished raw material has a freeness value, by CSF (Canadian Standard Freeness) measurement, higher than 750 ml, and a long fiber content, by BMcN measurement (+28 mesh), higher than 85%, and a fines content (200 mesh) lower than 5%.</p> |
