FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: method of controlling quality of an adhesive joint involves determining the strength of the adhesive joint. The quality of the adhesive joint is determined while irradiating the analysed object with X-rays. Thickness and integrity of the adhesive joint are then determined. Integrity is determined by recording X-ray intensity before and after passing through the analysed object. The strength of the adhesive joint is found using a curve of the ultimate strength of the adhesive joint, for shearing parallel to the grain, versus thickness of the adhesive layer. ^ EFFECT: high efficiency, low labour input, high accuracy of the method of controlling quality of the adhesive joint. ^ 4 dwg
