[Class 40 (ii).] A suction pipe for the removal of shavings during recording is divided and furnished at the place of division with flanges 26, which are not in contact but provide a joint which is sufficiently air tight for the purpose. The portion 22 extends through the base plate of the recorder, an air deflector 24 partially surrounding the opening. The portion 25 may be of larger bore than the portion 22. In the arrangement shown the flanges are cylindrical, their axes coinciding with the pivotal axes of the supporting arm 18. In a modification, the flanges are plane and are in planes at right angles to the axis of swing.</p> |
