The method involves attaching knife edge of a knife (20) on a print substrate web (19) to be cut. The knife is moved through the web with the edge running diagonally to the web in such a manner that the edge continuously cuts the web from a longitudinal side to an opposing longitudinal side. The edge and the web enclose an angle of 15 degrees. A two-way rod of the knife cooperating with the edge is diagonally placed on the web. An independent claim is also included for a cutting device for cross cutting a web on a print substrate.
