PURPOSE: A polarizer manufacturing method is provided to improve optical characteristics, thereby reducing the thickness of a polarizer and increasing the area of the polarizer without wrinkles and ruptures of a film in a high stretching ratio condition. CONSTITUTION: A polarizer manufacturing method is comprised of a first cross-linking step and a second cross-linking step. A polyvinyl alcohol film is dipped in a first cross-linking aqueous solution in the first cross-linking step. The first cross-linking aqueous solution includes a boron compound. The polyvinyl alcohol film is dipped in a second cross-linking aqueous solution in the second cross-linking step. The second cross-linking aqueous solution includes a cyclic polybasic carboxylic acid compound which has two or more carboxyl groups.
