PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a person using 3D image information and a device thereof are provided to use 3D image information and an image about an upper body with high resolution, thereby quickly and accurately recognizing a person without a recognition error. CONSTITUTION: An image input unit(330) receives a photographed image from a photographing unit(320). A stereo matching unit(340) analyzes the image to 3-dimensionally recognize a person. A zoom-in camera(350) photograph a subject by a zoom-in method to obtain an image of high resolution. A user system(360) receives information about the person. The photographing unit includes a first stereo camera(321a) and a second stereo camera(321b). The first stereo camera photographs a left-eye image of the subject. The second stereo camera photographs a right-eye image of the subject.
