<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device, a friction couple for a brake device, and a brake pad, of which friction performance are optimized. <P>SOLUTION: The brake device includes: a first member 4 having a rolling element 42 and a holder 43 rotatably holds the rolling element 42; a second member 5 which is provided while contacting with the rolling element 42 and rotates the rolling element 42 on the holder 43 in association with relative displacement between the first member 4 and the second member; and a press mechanism 3 for pressing the first member 4 and the second member 5.
