<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neural probe system used for exciting neurons and/or acquiring data. <P>SOLUTION: At least one planar microelectrode (2) is attached to a carrier (7), and comprises a set of two or more conductive segments (1). The set is preferably confined to be in an area of from 15 to 8,000 μm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>, and electrical connections (4, 5) assuring that at least two sub-sets of conductive segments (1) within the set are individually switchable to the same input or output line (3) so that the surface area and/or the shape of the microelectrode (2) electrically connected to the line (3) can be varied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
