<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conductive material used for a solid polymer fuel cell, and having high proton conductivity in an intermediate temperature operation under a low humidity environment. <P>SOLUTION: A proton conductive material used for catalyst layers 14, 16 is a composite material obtained by doping zirconium phosphonate with tungstosilicic acid. Accordingly, zirconium phosphonate has a sufficiently high heat resistance compared to a polymeric material having proton conductivity, and the proton conductivity is maintained high even under the low humidity environment by tungstosilicic acid. Therefore, the proton conductive material used for the catalyst layers 14, 16 can have high proton conductivity in an intermediate temperature operation under the low humidity environment. Also, there is no need of resin with low heat resistance such as the polymeric material for MEA 10, and therefore, MEA 10 can exhibit an excellent power generation performance in the intermediate temperature operation under the low humidity environment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
