<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a buckle device for being fitted with a tongue provided to a belt for restraining a person on a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In a buckle device 10, a button 28 protrudes forward from the case 16 of a buckle body 14. In a state where a tongue plate is inserted into the fitting cylinder 32 of the button 28 and a tilting of the tongue plate is stopped, the tongue plate is slid toward the case 16 together with the button 28, and thereby, the tongue plate is fitted into the buckle body 14. Thus, the tongue plate is easily fitted into the buckle body 14. Here, the button 28 is slid to be introduced into the case 16.
