The disclosed LED bulb (1) is equipped with an LED module (2), a base section (3) whereon the LED module (2) is arranged, and a globe (4) which is mounted on the base section (3). The LED module (2) is provided with LED chips (8) which are mounted on a substrate (7) and which emit ultra violet to violet light. The base section (3) is provided with a lighting circuit and a connector (6). A fluorescent film (9) is provided on the inner surface of the globe (4) and absorbs the ultra violet to violet light emitted from the LED chips, and emits white light. The fluorescent film (9) has a film thickness in the range of 80-800µm. The amount of UV rays which leaks out from the globe (4) in the LED bulb (1) is not greater than 0.1mW/nm/1m.
