<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of easily preventing a laser beam from leaking to the outside. <P>SOLUTION: The projector comprises a light source unit having a laser light emitter emitting a laser beam and a projection light converting means converting the laser beam into projection light, a display element, and a light guiding optical system forming a projection light path guiding light from the light source unit to the display element. The projector also comprises a partial light separating means reflecting or transmitting a part of the light irradiated from the light source unit and separating the light to a light path which is different from the projection light path; a light sensor 46 disposed on the separated and changed light path; a light intensity determining means detecting the light intensity of the laser beam separated by the partial light separating means by the light sensor, and determining whether the light intensity exceeds a threshold value or not; and a light source controlling means stopping light emission of the laser light emitter on the basis of the determination result of the light intensity determining means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
