IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD FOR IMAGE READER, AND IMAGE READER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of reproducing a high-quality image in which occurrence of a light/dark stripe is suppressed.

SOLUTION: An image processing method for an image reader which reads the image of a conveyed document 20 by disposing adjacent image sensors 13 partially overlapping each other comprises: a step of black/white correction on each piece of image data output by the image sensors; a step of deviation correction in the sub-scanning direction of each piece of corrected image data; a brightness correction processing step (processing D) which corrects the brightness of an image so that the average values of the pixel values of the overlapping areas of the adjacent image sensors are coincident; and an image connection processing step for reproducing an image by connecting each piece of brightness-corrected image data. The brightness correction processing step (processing D) subjects an area in which the average luminance of the overlapping area is calculated to weighting in a manner such that small weight is put to the periphery and large weight is put to the center.
