<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor that prevents the length of an armature along a moving direction from becoming larger and that also reduces cogging. <P>SOLUTION: A linear motor includes a field portion 5 and an armature 10. The field portion 5 has a plurality of permanent magnets that are arranged linearly in such a manner that N-poles and S-poles are alternately formed. The armature 10 has: a core 14 having a plurality of teeth 14a that face the field portion 5 across a gap; and a plurality of coils 16 each wound around each of the teeth 14a in the core 14. The plurality of teeth 14a with the coils 16 wound therearound are divided into teeth 14a-1 positioned at both ends of the armature 10 along a relative movement direction thereof, and remaining teeth 14a-2. A width TW1 of each of the teeth 14a-1 along the relative movement direction is smaller, all the way from a base part 18 to a tip part 19 thereof, than a width TW2 of each of the teeth 14a-2 along the relative movement direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
