<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate noise reduction processing just after channel selection or input switching so as to prevent deterioration of display quality. <P>SOLUTION: An image improving device 1 includes: an AD conversion portion 11 converting an analog video signal into a digital video signal; a noise level measuring portion 19 measuring a noise level at every prescribed period for a plurality of times for the digital video signal converted in the AD conversion portion 11 and calculating an average value of the measured noise levels; and a two-dimensional NR 14 and a three-dimensional NR 15, which perform the noise reduction processing on the digital video signal based on the average value of the noise levels calculated in the noise level measuring portion 19. When channel selection or input switching is performed on a television apparatus, the noise level measuring portion 19 calculates the average value by not referring to the noise level measured just before channel selection or input switching but referring only to the noise levels measured just after channel selection or input switching. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
