<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness of gas concentration detection while suppressing adhesion of water to a sensor element. <P>SOLUTION: A first outside gas hole 144a is opened to a first corner part 144b, and an angle formed by an outer aperture surface of the first outside gas hole 144a and the bottom of a step part 145 is 45° and an angle formed by an inner peripheral surface of the first outside gas hole 144a and the outer aperture surface is 90°. A second outside gas hole 146a is opened to a second corner part 146b, and an angle formed by an outer aperture surface of the second outside gas hole 146a and the bottom of a tip part 146 is 45° and an angle formed by an inner peripheral surface of the second outside gas hole 146a and the outer aperture surface is 90°.
