<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation catalyst capable of completely combusting carbon components at a lower temperature for use in cleaning exhaust in an exhaust catalyst by oxidizing a particulate matter (PM) or the like comprising carbon (C) as its main component present in exhaust discharged from an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: A carbon-containing substance or an organic component is completely combusted by subjecting the same to a heat treatment in the presence of an oxidation catalyst comprising a thallium oxide represented by formula R<SB POS="POST">x</SB>Tl<SB POS="POST">y</SB>O<SB POS="POST">α</SB>(wherein R represents one or two or more kinds of element(s) other than Tl(I) and Tl(III), provided that Tl is trivalent). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
