<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the loss of chlorine in a system and an amount of use of new chlorine, in a method for refining a nickel chloride solution. <P>SOLUTION: In a process S5 for producing nickel carbonate, nickel carbonate 24 is produced from the nickel electrolysis waste liquid 20 of electrolytic nickel 18, produced from a nickel chloride solution 17 by an electrowinning method, and soda lime 22, and the filtrate 26 of the nickel carbonate 24 in an amount corresponding to the liquid amount stored in the production process system of the electrolytic nickel is returned into the system as a recovered chlorine gas 16 source in a cleaning process S3 or as a recovered chlorine gas 15 source in a chlorine leaching process S2.
