<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent intrusion of scattered oil into an oil separator. <P>SOLUTION: The upper structure of an engine includes a gasket including: a plurality of annular sealing parts that seal the upper part of an ignition unit boss for mounting the ignition unit of a plurality of cylinders and seal the back face of a cylinder head cover 20; and an outer edge sealing part 12 that seals the upper outer edge 3c of the cylinder head and seals the outer edge of the back face of the cylinder head cover 20. An oil separator 40 includes a gas introducing part 55 which is disposed between a predetermined annular sealing part and an annular sealing part adjacent thereto, which is extended downward from the bottom wall 44 of the oil separator 40, nearly in parallel with an exhaust camshaft 4b and detouring the exhaust camshaft 4b, and which has a shield wall part 57 having a nearly U-shaped cross section opened in a side close to an intake camshaft 4a.
