摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing an appropriate auto-focus (AF) operation at any time even if an image of a subject is formed on any position on an imaging device. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus of the present invention includes: an imaging optical system for forming a subject image; an imaging device including plural pixels for photoelectrically converting the subject image; a defocus amount calculation part for calculating a defocus amount based on a phase difference of plural focus detection signals obtained from plural focus detection pixels; a high frequency component amount detection part for detecting a high frequency component amount included in a pixel signal output from pixels other than the plural focus detection pixels; an area determination part for determining whether the imaging optical system is driven in response to the defocus amount or the high frequency component amount, depending on a detection result obtained by detecting in which position of divided blocks of the imaging device an area including a targeted subject in the subject image exists; and a focusing part for achieving an in-focus state by driving the imaging optical system depending on a determination result of the area determination part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
