<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope elongation adjusting device of an elevator which adjusts a counter run-by size without padding and improves efficiency of adjustment operation of the counter run-by size. <P>SOLUTION: A winding machine support mechanism 10 is provided in the back side of a guide rail 2B on a machine board 1. The winding machine support mechanism 10 has a machine board fixing member 11, a pair of machine board side leg portions 12A and 12B, a screw receiving member 13, a winding machine installation frame 14, a pair of frame side leg portions 15A and 15B, a handle 16, and a screw rod 17. The handle 16 is rotated, and then the screw rod 17 is rotated circumferentially. Along to a screw hole of the screw receiving member 13, the screw rod 17 moves upward or downward.
