Provided is a head detection method for quickly and accurately detecting a head in an image. The head detection method is characterized by including: an image-acquisition step for acquiring an image for attribute determination using a preliminary head detection model, in which an image containing at least a part of a head in a pre-set standard image region is acquired as a positive example and an image that does not contain a head in the pre-set standard image region is acquired as a negative example, and a definitive head detection model in which an image containing a head in a state that matches a pre-set location and size is acquired as a positive example and an image containing a head in a state that does not match the pre-set location and/or size is acquired as a negative example; a preliminary head detection step for detecting a head image by cropping the standard image region as an image patch and referring to the preliminary head detection model; and a definitive head detection step for detecting a definitive head image from among the acquired plurality of head images by referring to the definitive head detection model.
