Subject-matter of the present invention is an energy recovery apparatus and its use for the thermal treatment and the valorisation of a solid or fluid material, even polluted. Figure 1 shows the longitudinal section of an embodiment of the apparatus (1) according to the present invention suitable for the treatment of fluids, whereby a first hot fluid is conveyed through inlet connectors to a containment chamber (2), where a deflector (21) of elongated form creates an interspace (21 ') and heat exchange elements (3) are used to circulate a second fluid. In another embodiment, heat exchange takes place with a solid being conveyed through a rotating chamber (5).
