PERSON TRANSFER APPARATUS

Transfer apparatus comprises a rail system (114) having a pair of rails (116, 118) and a person support structure (10) movably mountable to the rails. At least one inflatable actuator (122) is operative to raise and lower a first end of the rail system. Actuators (122) may be provided to raise and lower both ends of the rail system. The rail system may have a plurality actuator units (124), each unit comprising an elongate soft wall inflatable member (122) supporting a rail section (130). The person support structure (10) may support a person in a sitting position for lateral transfer along the rails. The person support structure (10) may include rigid side frames interconnected by an inflatable back/lumber support and an inflatable under thigh support detachable connectable between the side frames. The inflatable support structure (10) may be used independently of the rail system and could be used as a sling in association with a hoist.
