<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus which satisfy all of shortening of start-up time, excellent fixability, and long life time with a simple configuration and are capable of stabilizing a nip position. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device for fixing a toner image on a recording medium includes supporting parts which support rotatably both ends of an elastically deformable cylindrical fixing roller part, a pressure roller part to which the fixing roller part abuts to form a nip, and a fixing part in which a recording medium with a toner image transferred thereon is conveyed to the nip and fixed. The supporting parts are provided at least at two positions on the respective outer peripheral surfaces of both sides of the fixing roller part, the both sides being separated by a portion of the largest diameter of the fixing roller part as a boundary.
