The apparatus (1) has an airflow switch (8) partly taking a cleaning stream (11) out of a main airflow (5) of an aerator (2) of a vehicle. An air guide device (3) removes dirt particles from the stream on a visible surface of a vehicle. A control device (15) controls a portion of the air stream taken out of the main airflow. The airflow switch is controlled depending on temperature of the main airflow. The air guide device comprises outlet nozzles (23, 28), where one of the outlet nozzles is arranged in a frame that partly surrounds the visible surface.
