The method involves emitting light on a lane surface (1a). The wavelength is detected from the light reflected at the lane surface. A condition of the lane surface is determined depending on the detected reflecting light. The signal is displayed for road user, during the lane surface is determined as dangerous. An independent claim is also included for a device for the warning other road users of a dangerous lane surface used in a vehicle.
