<p>The invention provides complexes comprising two octahedrally coordinated metal centres having the same absolute configuration and which are linked by a plurality of linkers whereby to form a flexible helical structure. Preferred complexes are those shown schematically by way of the following structure: formula (I) (wherein each M independently denotes a transition metal ion; each A'-A independently denotes a bidentate unit; each A' and A independently denotes a donor atom within said bidentate unit; and each L independently denotes a linker). The complexes find use in a wide range of medical applications, for example as antimicrobial agents and in treating cancer. Other uses include the delivery of biomolecules such as nucleic acids in methods of gene therapy.</p> |
