<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition in which a precipitate is not generated, the reactivity of a polymerizable compound is high, and the reliability of a liquid crystal display element after polymerization is high in a liquid crystal composition containing a polymerizable compound. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition includes 0.01-3 pts.mass of a polymerizable compound expressed by General formula (I) based on 100 pts.mass of a nematic liquid crystal composition whose dielectric anisotropy Δε is negative. In the formula, C<SP POS="POST">1</SP>, C<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and C<SP POS="POST">3</SP>each independently denote a 1,4-phenylene group, a 1,4-cyclohexylene group or a naphthalene-2,6-diyl group, a hydrogen atom of these rings may be substituted by a C1-3 alkyl group, a C1-3 alkoxy group, a C1-3 acyl group, a cyano group or a halogen atom, M<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and M<SP POS="POST">2</SP>each independently denote a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Z<SP POS="POST">1</SP>denotes -O-CO-, -CO-O- or the like, Z<SP POS="POST">2</SP>denotes a direct bond, -O-CO-, -CO-O- or the like, and q denotes 0 or 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
