摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of an electrophoretic display device in which screen operation such as page scaling can be performed at a high speed and a still picture can be displayed with high quality. <P>SOLUTION: An electrophoretic display device 1 comprises: a pair of substrates 28 and 29 at least one of which has light transmissivity; plural pixel electrodes 21 formed on the substrate 28; a common electrode 22 formed on the substrate 29; an electrophoretic element 23 contained between the substrates and composed of two types of dispersed charged particles having different colors and polarities; and driving circuits 3-6 which produce a write pulse for generating a potential difference between the pixel electrodes 21 and the common electrode 22 to move the charged particles. In fixed display, where an image on a screen is fixed and not changed, a write pulse of the image is applied repeatedly for a predetermined number of times when the image is formed. In switch display, where an image on the screen is continuously switched, only first few pulses of the write pulse are applied when an image for each switch screen is formed, and then the image formation is finished.
