<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which forms perforations on the basis of perforation forming mode selected from a plurality of perforation forming modes, and to provide a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 11 determines a perforation forming mode on the basis of perforation position mode information in job information received from a host apparatus. The control part 11 determines positions of perforations formed on a web 3 on the basis of the perforation forming mode, and controls a switching part 6 to form the perforations on the positions.
